Education & Infrastructure Working Groups
Hello Ipperwash Community!
We are reporting back to you about the efforts of the Education and Infrastructure Working Groups formed after the June stakeholder meeting and discussed at the AGM.
The Education group created a “Did You Know” piece focused on health and safety. The first draft has been posted on Facebook in advance of the busy Labour Day Weekend and is included here. The group anticipates future edits including a map on the back (or 2nd page) of public access areas, parking, porta potties, garbage and location identifier.
The Infrastructure group has prioritized making specific requests from the municipality for increased porta potties and cleaning as well as safety signage and life rings on the beach. The group is encouraging CICA to host some type of safety and rescue education by Zoom over the Winter for interested community members.
Both working groups will be discussing needs for signage, washroom facilities, and other service and safety upgrades to be part of an application for presenting at the October 7th Council Meeting. We look forward to having community members attend the Council Meeting in support of our presentation if our application to present is accepted. We’ll keep you informed.
Thank you very much to the volunteer group members helping CICA move forward with these important community improvement efforts!

Thank you for all your work on education and making the beach a safer place for everyone by respecting the enjoyment of all who visit. Has there been discussion of motorized vehicles allowed on the beach? This has been dropped from current signage. As a lakefront property owner, I am concerned about how these vehicles are licensed and insured and who then is liable should someone unlicensed and uninsured on a motorcycle hit anyone or injure themselves. I have video from July of motorcycles going 40 kph when there were children playing nearby.
