Communities in Bloom

The adopt a pots located at Wallygators and at Arbor Acres will be planted the first week of June.  They have been adopted By Mark Lindsay and Joanne Wilton who will keep them fertilized and watered.

Lambton Shores in Bloom Contest will begin June 11th. Communities in Bloom applied for Miracle Grow signage – and we won!  These are the signs that will be used to indicated the Garden of the Week throughout the 5 areas of Lambton Shores.  Winners names will be put into a draw, and later this summer will be drawn to win a Miracle Grow prize.  Winners will also be recognized in the Forest Standard or the Lakeshore Advance.

Earth Day is fast approaching and the various communities will be holding a Trash Bash.  This is time where each community gathers to clean up their streets, parkways and trails.  Ipperwash plans to have theirs on Sunday April 26th at 1:00 pm.  Please meet at Wallygators and be sure to bring gloves and wear appropriate clothing for combing the streets for garbage.  Garbage bags will be provided.  Hope to see many of you out for this great event.

The native tree brochure is available on line or at the municipal offices.  The three trees that have been chosen this year are White Spruce,  Ironwood, and Sugar Maple.  For the past 5 years Communities in Bloom has chosen three trees to plant in order to replace the ash trees that have been hard hit with the emerald ash borer.  Two of our garden centers – Westland Greenhouses and Treemendous – offer 20% discounts off of these trees, which is available on line at www.lambtonshores.com.

Communities in Bloom is in the planning stages of a Magical Mystery Tour which is planned for July 26.  This is an opportunity for residence and guests to take the tour that we take the Communities in Bloom Judges on.  You will see what makes Lambton Shores such a wonderful place to live, work, and play in.  The event will end with a community BBQ held at the Legacy Centre.   Save the date – more details to follow.
