Phase 3 – What does that mean for Ipperwash?

Hello everyone,

As we expected, the Province of Ontario announced that Lambton County would be moving into Stage 3 of reopening this Friday, July 24 ^th . Stage 3 means that more restrictions will be loosened and nearly all businesses and public spaces can reopen as long as they follow the public health advice and workplace safety guidance necessary to keep everyone safe.

We have heard that many areas are seeing increasing COVID-19 positive cases in the 20 – 49 age group. The source of transmission can often be linked to parties and gatherings where people are socializing and may not be taking appropriate precautionary measures. As our community advances into Stage 3, please remember that no one is immune to this virus.

The message is very clear that COVID-19 is still present in our province and our communities. Regardless of what Stage we are in, where we can go and what activities we chose to engage in, we must remain vigilant in our physical distancing and hygiene practices. There is no mandatory mask requirement in Lambton Shores but many of us have chosen to add them to our daily wardrobe. This is a good choice. I recommend that you have a mask available if you find yourself in a position where physical distancing is not possible.

We are mid-way through the busy summer season and our tourist areas have seen unprecedented numbers of visitors. Our numerous community beautifiers and staff are doing a fabulous job keeping the community clean and picking up rubbish after the crowds leave. I certainly wish that it was not necessary to have to do this but please know that your efforts do not go unnoticed. Thank you for pitching in and helping out; we really appreciate your contribution in keeping our community clean.

What does Stage 3 mean for us?

Nearly all businesses and public spaces will be able to gradually reopen in Stage 3, with public health and workplace safety restrictions in place, while some high-risk venues and activities will remain closed until they can safely resume operations.
Stage 3 does not mean that the fight against this deadly virus is over — far from it. Everyone must continue to be vigilant and follow public health advice and workplace safety guidelines. This will help limit outbreaks and reduce the risk of undoing the significant progress we have made together over the past several months.
In Stage 3, more restrictions will be loosened and nearly all businesses and public spaces will reopen, as long as they follow the public health advice and workplace safety guidance necessary to keep everyone safe.
