Locations-Phragmites Here, Phragmites There-Can you identify the local locations in these pictures?

Phragmites have been found on Ipperwash Beach for many years, but in the last few years Phragmites growth can be found scattered throughout  the whole length of the beach.  Phragmites may look innocent, but they are extremely aggressive, killing out all other vegetation and growing to heights reaching 5 metres/15 feet, with monocultures (dense growths) covering hectares/acres.

Phragmites are like icebergs.  You only see a portion of the whole plant.  It is the growth below ground level that is the most threatening and the hardest to treat.
