Lambton Shores promotes from within for new CAO
The municipality’s current director of community services, McAuley has over 18 years of senior municipal leadership experience.
Prior to joining Lambton Shores, McAuley was CAO for the municipalities of South Huron and Bluewater.
“I am honoured to step into this role and look forward to continuing the great work of both council and staff that the residents of Lambton Shores have come to expect,” McAuley said. “We have all faced challenges over the last year and a half, but I am confident that we are well-positioned to recover from the pandemic stronger than before, and that we have a great team in place that can meet the challenges and expectations of our rapidly growing community.”
The process to recruit a new CAO took several months.
“We are very excited to make this announcement and the unanimous support by council is a testament to the strength of Stephen’s candidacy,” said Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber. “Stephen has demonstrated strong leadership abilities throughout his career, and we can all look forward to working with him for many years to come.”
McAuley will be replacing Lambton Shores’ current CAO Kevin Williams, who is stepping down on Dec. 31. The appointment of McAuley in mid-November will allow a seamless transition before the year end, Weber said, who also thanked Williams for his service.
“Kevin has served Council and Lambton Shores residents exceptionally well over the last eight years and we are grateful for his leadership,” he said. “I am pleased that a successor could be found within the organization, which really speaks to the depth and skill of our staff.”
