Our second massive undertaking to restore the Tanner swale is being held on Monday, July 13, 2020. In order to effectively manage the swale restoration, we need to remove the standing dead Phragmites, and the new growth before seed heads form. This will also allow us to spot and remove the newly emerging stalks.

We have hired the Invasive Phragmites Control Centre and Greenstream, who will be using an amphibious machine called a Truxor, and a crew of 4 using Stihl saws to help us clear the swale.

Volunteers are required to pile the cut Phragmites biomass on tarps, and move them to a pick up site for proper disposal by the Municipality. This work is all done on land. If you have waders, and would like to work in the water, opportunities are there for you, also. We have 8 sleds that need to be filled and pulled.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

(Flexible times, lots of room for social distancing)

This is a great opportunity for students needing volunteer hours.
